Dear Omar D. Blair Families:

School begins in just under a month on Monday, August 13th at 7:55 AM. Included in this registration packet you will find the following:

ü  Registration assignment for each student (Teacher & Classroom)

ü  Copy of School Calendar for 2012-2013

ü  Order form for uniforms & requirements (Blairware & Athletic T-Shirts)

This year our school is ordering school supplies for each grade level in classroom bundles. This allows us to purchase supplies at significant discounts because of the large quanities. Last year we piloted this idea of paying a flat fee with Kindergarten parents and the response was overwhelmingly positive. One check eliminates looking for the special folders, special paper, pencils, flash drives, colored pencils or special markers. You write the check and we order the materials which are delivered to your child’s classroom before school begins. Please be aware that students would still be responsible for their own backpack.

Annual Activity Fee

We are trying to eliminate the PTO fall fundraiser. Generally these fundraisers only allow the school to retain 50% of the proceeds and are very time consuming to organize. PTO funds are used for assemblies, Continuation for 5th and 8th grades and Kindergarten graduation. They support our students by offsetting costs of transport for field trips. They also support our teachers by providing lunches during SLC week. PTO underwrites entry fees for special programming such as: Spelling Bee competition, Sex Education presentations, Destination Imagination and they support special funding requests from our teachers.

To eliminate the school asking for multiple activity fees from families, we are asking for a one-time, start of the year Activity Fee based on the following table. The school and PTO would retain 100% of these fees.

This fee is due at the time of student registration. This fee offsets some but not all of the costs for field trip entrance fees and other miscellaneous costs as listed above.

Cash is accepted at the front office. The school has a very limited ability to make change. Please bring exact amounts, if possible.

Omar D. Blair Charter School will begin accepting credit card payments this year. We will accept VISA, Mastercard, and Discover. Payments may be made in the business office during regular office hours.

Extracurricular Sports

Athletic participation fees are separate from other activity fees and charged per extracurricular sport. A fee schedule will be available once school sports are finalized.
